We present an interesting method of planting bulbs in a small area. Thus your spring flowers will bloom continuously and thoroughly for several months. A nice alternative for mini garden on the terrace or balcony.
All you need to do is to plant in larger pot two or three different types of spring bulbs or tubers with different flowering period. Since the bulbs do not like excessive moisture before you put the soil, make 3 cm drainage layer of gravel and place pieces of clay above it. Plant bulbs at levels as ranked according to plant height, flowering and color. Thus, at the bottom you can plant red tulips and daffodils, to the next level - blue hyacinths, and the top layer to be flowers with low stem - crocuses and snowdrops that bloom first. For reference, you can place temporary wooden sticks to mark the location of the bottom layer bulbs. Cover each row with about 3 cm of soil and plant the next, while trying to distribute the bulbs chess like. This type of "floor planting" does not create any obstacle to the normal development and growth of flowers. The advantage of this method is the formation of a lush garden in miniature style, which is full of beautiful colors for many weeks. The method can be used for planting outdoors too.
